Coming April 1st:

free "lite" US Gov Simulation

We want to offer teachers extra support during the coronavirus emergency as classes have moved online. As an offer of help, we are creating a free “Lite” version of the  Statecraft US Government Simulation. It will be available as of April 1st and is designed to run for 2 to 3 weeks. This special Lite Gov Sim is optimized for online use and is a simplified version of the full Simulation experience that is especially easy to implement in your virtual class.

We hope you and your students will appreciate an injection of fun and excitement for learning right now!

IMMERSE STUDENTS IN ADDICTIVE ONLINE WORLDS

Engage Students

Game-like play sucks students into the Simulations where they must take ownership of their learning experience. They’re empowered to excel to their own personal limits and shine. Engagement enhances the knowledge acquisition process and makes it fun!

Save Time

The Simulation is easy to set up and runs itself. You have a new tool to draw connections to course concepts and spark dynamic conversations. All-unique Simulation scenarios every semester promote academic honesty. Teacher tools do tasks like grading for you.

Demonstrate Course Concepts

Students experience important US Government concepts such as security dilemmas and collective action problems first-hand and personally feel how complicated leadership truly is. In order to succeed in the Simulation, they’ll have to apply course-related knowledge.

statecraft Lite US Government simulation overview

When students sign up for the Statecraft US Government simulation they enter a rich fictional world where they must cooperate and compete to achieve their specific political roles. In the “Lite” version of the Simulation roles will already be configured for students so they can start playing immediately.

The objective of the game is to gather as many points as possible for your role in the simulation.

Goals

Students must work to pass bills that are popular in their districts and states while carefully balancing favors, abilities, and the hidden motives of their classmates to gain sim points.

Strategy

To gather points students can pursue a myriad of strategies: from cautiously collaborative strategies that maximize synergies while carefully checking other student's power plays. It is possible that every position could get a perfect score, but this will take great negotiation and cooperation.

How is the Lite Version different from the Full Sim?

Since this is a “Lite” version of the Simulation you’ll only experience about 50% of the features and capabilities available in the full Statecraft US Government Simulation. That said, you’ll still get a lot of benefits! You’ll still create intense engagement as students experience lessons first-hand. It’s a perfect teaching tool to add to your course last-minute in response to moving classes online. It’s also a great opportunity to try out a Statecraft Simulation if you’ve been curious but not ready to implement the full version in your class.

You can read about the full suite of features offered in the comprehensive version of the Simulation on the Statecraft US Gov Product Tour page >>
